IN 1931, Sergeant Murrie and his family arrived in Alyth. Within a short time three of the children contracted Scarlet Fever (an infectious bacterial disease causing fever and a scarlet rash mostly affecting children) and were admitted to the Fever Hospital in Blairgowrie (the Fever Hospital was located in the trees on the road 1st left at the Rattray signs as you enter Rattray from Alyth).
